The Top Events at London Fintech Week 2017

Today marks the start of London Fintech Week 2017.

Here’s our round up of the top events each day if you could only choose one.  

Monday

China and Digital Currency

Michael Cao - Partner  block.one Michael is a member of the Satoshi Roundtable, an invitation only group of leaders in blockchain technology. He regularly speaks on Bitcoin and the mining industry, and keeps close relationships with key industry players in the developer, exchange and mining spaces through the US and China. He got involved in the blockchain industry 5 years ago, and has since gone on to manage a cryptomining facility in the US, as well as managing the largest Scrypt ASIC retail website worldwide. If you’re at all interesting in the Chinese market or in blockchain technology, Michael’s talk is absolutely unmissable.

Robo-advisory & Machine Learning: Making Money with Algorithms

This talk discusses how technology and algorithms have cut costs and brought solid financial advice to the masses, and what this could mean for the future. It is read by Richard Levin, Chair of the Polsinelli Fintech and Regulation Practice. He has co- written a handbook on digital currencies, Real Regulation of Virtual Currencies, and specialises in securities law. Other speakers at this talk are:

This includes the distribution of iShares ETFs, BlackRock Index Funds and BlackRock passive solutions.

Featurespace Former chief exec of Aurasma, Martina is now CEO of Featurespace. The startup takes advantage of the discoveries made by Professor Bill Fitzgerald and Dave Excell: the ability to read human intention through data and adapt our understanding automatically is a process applicable to every organisation with customers and data. They help organisations gain retrospective and predictive insight from their data in order to increase efficiency, reduce costs and gain a competitive advantage.

Nutmeg An expert in digital wealth management and the use of EFTs, Shaun is a regular speaker on finance for Sky News, CNBC, Bloomberg and BBC. Shaun specialises in asset allocation, multi-asset portfolio management, investment strategy, commodity investment and macro-economic analysis. At Nutmeg, consumers can access a platform for a fully managed, diversified portfolio of investments at a low cost with spread risks.

SESAMm An entrepreneur and engineer, Sylvain’s company SESAMm has developed trading indicators based on Big Data social media analysis. The aim of this is to allow funds and banks generate alpha in a differentiating and efficient way by leveraging the power of Big Data and behavioral finance.

This talk at fintech week covers how new startups can seize the potential of expanding into the Chinese market and ramp up their growth in the region.

What better way to end Fintech Week than with an evening of food, drinks and tunes. Open to all conference ticket holders, this is a great event for networking and getting to know contacts you have encountered throughout the week. It takes place at Rocket in Canary Wharf and the party will be on until late.
