Workers Equity and Luup sign agreement to enable workers to use their mobile phones to send money home
Dubai – June 14th, 2010 - Leading UAE payroll processor Workers Equity Holding (WEH) and mobile solutions provider Luup today joined forces to bring a comprehensive mobile money transfer (remittance) solution to the market. The agreement opens way for WEH’s customers to seamlessly remit money home from their mobiles, in partnership with financial institutions.
The comment came at a signing ceremony attended by Morten Hofstad, Regional Director of Luup and Erik B. Wiken, Commercial Consul, Royal Norwegian Consulate in Dubai and Director of Innovation Norway, GCC Region.
"The scope of the agreement is for Luup to integrate its mobile money transfer solution with WEH’s payroll solution," explained Morten Hofstad from Luup, adding "with financial institutions as further partners for remittances, workers will have access to instant and easy-to-use financial services."
"It is inspiring to see a company of Norwegian origin such as Luup partner across the UAE to build a mobile remittance gateway," said Erik Wiken. "Initiating such an important gateway gives workers the ability to send money home to their families, instantaneously from any location and without high tariffs - all migrant workers in the UAE are potential users."
