The company devised mobile payments strategies for financial institutions such as Deutsche Bank Global Transaction Banking, MoneyGram International and the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, a leading bank in the Middle East. Luup has proven, in-depth market experience and has been developing and operating mobile payments solutions since 2002.

The company’s comprehensive portfolio of modular, feature-rich mobile payments solutions meet all requirements of diverse customer segments, such as retail and corporate banks, remittance networks, mobile operators and microfinance institutions.

History

2000 - Contopronto company established and registered in Norway

2002 - The Luup mobile payment solution is first launched under the Contopronto name. For the first three years the company focuses on product development.

2003 - Contopronto becomes the first company in Europe to receive the full European e-money licence.

2005 - Luup launches its new payment solution, branded Luup, in Norway.

2006 - Luup opens offices in the UK and Germany and starts testing the service in these markets.

2008 - Luup employs over 50 staff and has serviced over 100,000 customers throughout Europe. Having built a successful business proposition based on payment processing, mobile applications and stored value account hosting, Luup is now looking to achieve exponential growth by partnering with financial institutions around the world.

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi was the first to sign up to the Luup Mobile Payment Network, with a number of global tier one banks currently in negotiation.

2009 - Luup partners with Deutsche Bank to offer a cross border mobile payments service to it's banking and corporate customers.
